Lansdown Place West

Modern Georgian Maisonette

Located in the heart of Bath, near Lansdown Crescent, this Georgian townhouse boasts a kitchen that seamlessly marries classic charm with modern functionality. As part of a comprehensive redevelopment and interior design project of this Grade II Maisonette, every detail was meticulously curated to ensure harmony between the kitchen and other living spaces.

Location: Bath

Scope: Kitchen design & build

Type: Modern Georgian Townhouse

Functionality

In crafting this space, we prioritised both style and practicality. Recognising the elongated layout of the room we opted against wall units on the right-hand side. Instead we integrated architectural lighting to brighten the space and to illuminate the floating breakfast bar below. The dresser area, featuring fluted glass cabinets and a central shelf unit, adds depth and character while maximising storage and visual appeal. To enhance the sense of spaciousness, we installed two under-cabinet ovens, one of which incorporates a steam function, that offers the aesthetics of a range cooker but without compromising on countertop space.

Hidden Details

Our design process revolved around thoughtful details that elevate the overall aesthetic and functionality of the kitchen. We payed careful attention to the marble selection, flooring material, and colour palettes to ensure a connection with the rest of the house renovation. Embracing traditional framed cabinetry, we seamlessly integrated appliances with furniture-like elements, such as the dresser that surrounds the fridge and freezer. The striking Calacatta Viola marble serves as a centrepiece. Marked by its white background and dramatic veining, this marble adorns the backsplash, faces the sink and extends to the expertly mitered breakfast bar. These elements tie the room together to create a luxurious and prestigious space. The aged brass cabinet conceals the extractor fan while echoing the burnished brass handles used to complete this cohesive and refined look.

Materials

The graceful appeal of the Calacatta Viola Marble is matched by its strength and durability. Simple, shaker cabinets are painted with Farrow & Ball Ash Grey. These relaxed green-grey tones harmonise with the burnished brass handles by Armac Martin. These storage solutions both conceal and compliment the Bertazzoni appliances and Quooker tap. Finished with oak Trunk flooring, this kitchen flows effortlessly with the rest of this exquisite house renovation.
